KU Online ID Information

A KU Online ID (and associated password) is your key to access many online services at KU including email, Blackboard, Enroll & Pay, the Kyou portal and more. In order to create an ID you must be current faculty, staff, enrolled student or approved affiliate. There are several important points to keep in mind when you create your online ID:

  1. Your KU Online ID serves as your online name and it will be visible to others.
  2. Your KU Online ID is not the same as your KU student ID.
  3. After it has been created you cannot change it.

You should, therefore, choose a name that will identify you as you wish to be known to others. The most common choice is some form of your name or initials, with a number added for uniqueness if necessary. For example: jsmith12 or jqs.

Online IDs must consist of 3 to 32 alphanumeric characters.

Your KU Online ID will be associated with your email address: e.g., onlineid@ku.edu, which can point to an Exchange account or other email address of your choice.

Your KU Online ID will also be used for access to resources such as the Kyou web portal, campus computing labs, and your personal web site.

Access to resources identified by your KU Online ID is protected by a password. You must keep the password secret and change it at least once a semester.
